- Cargo volume measures the available interior space.
- Payload capacity measures the weight the vehicle can safely carry after accounting for the vehicle, driver, fuel, equipment, and installed accessories.
A truck may have enough physical space for a load but still exceed its permitted operating weight. This is particularly important for routes carrying dense freight, liquids, automotive parts, industrial supplies, or other heavy products.

- Actual empty or curb weight
